Darrell Power, 69, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Darrell was the son of the late Bernard and Ethel (Daye) Power.
He was a member of St. Leo’s parish, Glace Bay. Darrell worked for many years at both FINA and Sydney Auto Parts. Darrell was a very outgoing man who loved to spend time with his family and many friends. He particularly enjoyed listening to music, dancing and getting out for ride on his motorbike.
He is survived by his son, Neil Power and daughter, Erin Power, Glace Bay; brother, Russell (Dawn), Mira Gut; nephew, Michael Crowell, Edmonton; two nieces, Patricia Croft (Donnie), Karen Horseman (Grant), both of Moncton; two grandnephews, Matthew Horseman and Shane Croft, three grandnieces, Courtney Croft, Lisa Croft and Sara Horseman and longtime friend, Grace MacPherson, Glace Bay.
Darrell was predeceased by his sisters, Joan Marie Crowell and Dr. Marianita ‘Nita’ Power.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Leo’s Parish with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held in St. Leo’s Parish Hall.
