Mary passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney, with her daughter, Mary by her side.
Mary was the adopted daughter of the late Joseph Allen and Maude (Young) MacDonald.
She was a lifetime member of the Glace Bay Seniors and Pensioners Club.
Mary is survived by her children, Mary (Charlie Lyons), Glace Bay, Joey, Calgary, Jim (Laurie), Grande Cache, Alta., Rose (Phil Gaffney), Halifax, and Robert (Ricki), Wainwright, Alta. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter and two step-great-grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur J. Murphy in 1977, second husband, Fabian H. Howley in 1992, grandson, Kyle Murphy in 2004 and her adopted brother, Joseph Cory Gould.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 12-2 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Deacon Lorne MacNeil, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery, followed by a reception at 118 Douglas Ave., Glace Bay, home of her daughter, Mary Lyons.
