We regret to announce the passing of Gloria ‘Ginger’ (Talbot) McNeil, age 60, of Glace Bay. Ginger passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Catherine (Mitchell) and William Talbot. She was a former employee of General Instruments and Highland Fisheries. Ginger loved to line dance with her dancing family every Thursday night. She enjoyed shopping and travelling. She loved to spend time with her two grandchildren, Noah and Olivia. She looked forward to her “girl’s night out” with her daughter, Michelle for dinner and a movie. Her Sunday drives with her husband, Donnie were always special. Ginger will always be remembered as a kind, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Ginger will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Daniel; daughter, Michelle; son-in-law, Chad MacPherson, Tanglewood, Sydney; cherished grandchildren, Noah and Olivia; birth mother, Fannie (Joe) Howell; sisters, Judy Talbot, Glace Bay, Margaret Burnell, Eva Jewell, Delia (Howard) Corkum, Marilyn (Raymond) Currie, all of Ontario, Cindy Yazdani (Soroush), P.E.I., Bonnie (Porter) McNeil (Allie), Heather Fraser, Shelly Fraser, all of Glace Bay, Paula Talbot and Barb McCutchen (Brian), both of Ontario; brothers, Sonny (Jen) Talbot, Glace Bay, Leon (Brenda) Talbot, Roy Talbot, both of Ontario, Henry (Jane) Talbot, Glace Bay and brother-in-law, Eddie (Wickie) McNeil. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Daniel, birth father, Reg Talbot, sisters, Edie Madore, Catherine McNeil, Jean MacPhee, brothers, Roy Talbot, parents-in-law, Mamie and Bits McNeil and granddaughter, Rebecca.
Visitation for Ginger McNeil will be held Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Warden United Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. A luncheon will held in the church. Cremation will follow.
