Geraldine Cooke
Geraldine Elizabeth Cooke, 88, of Amherst passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan.
Born in Amherst on February 15, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Fern (Estabrooks) MacDonald.
Geraldine was schooled in Amherst and later worked for Canada Car, Zeller’s and School for the Deaf.
She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst, as well as past president of the Amherst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Geraldine will be lovingly remembered and always missed by her husband of 61 years, Cedric; sons, Gerard (Bev) and Aaron (Jackie) both of Amherst; grandchildren, Tim Cooke (Mylene), Thom Cooke (Erin), Tyler Cooke (Alyssa) and Ryan Cooke; sisters, Marion Wood, Toronto, ON, Eileen Carmichael, Burlington, ON and Joan MacDonald Willowdale, ON; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Edith Colson and Mildred Huckle.
Her remains are resting in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Reception will follow after the service in the Parish hall.
Interment will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
