It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of our mother at the Marjorie Willoughby Hospice Home on October 24. Lorrie passed away peacefully at 75 years of age with family at her side.
Lorrie was predeceased by her husband Alex (October 5, 2009), her sister Elizabeth and her brother Allan.
She is survived by her sons Mark (Nancy) Backmeyer, Lawrence (Lana) Backmeyer, her daughters Therese (Lyle) Blakley, Bernadette (Jim) Krenz and eleven grandchildren; Patrick (Lindsay), Odessa, Matthew, Travis, Michael, Sydney, Deryn and Kelsa Blakley, Jarrad, Bradon and Devon Krenz. She is also survived by her sisters Loreen (George) Hutchison, Elaine Zuchariuk and Shirley Agnew.
Lorrie was born in Edmonton, they moved throughout Alberta and B.C. and eventually settled in Prince George where she met and married Alex Backmeyer. They moved to Kamloops where their four children were born and raised. She worked at the K.C.P. Credit Union eventually becoming general manager.
A special thank you to Dr. Aliye Huang, Dr. Chevalier and all the care workers who helped with her care in the past year.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to B.C. Children\'s Hospital Foundation, 4480 Oak Street, Vancouver, BC, V6H 3V4 in memory of Lorrie.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The Reverend Father Fred Weisbeck will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the cathedral.
