STEWART, Evelyn Hortense (Surette) - It is with great sadness we announce that Evelyn Hortense (Surette) Stewart, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Toronto on Sunday, October 9, 2011. Predeceased by her husband, Ian Stewart. Formerly of Surettes Island, she was born in Malden, Mass., the daughter of the late Arthur and Zoë (Bourque) Surette. Survived by brother Stanis (Barb) Surette and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Kenneth and Bruno. Evelyn’s cremated remains were laid to rest next to her beloved Ian in a private graveside service at the Old Stone Church Cemetery in Beaverton. ON on the 15th of October followed by a celebration of Evelyn’s life at her niece Darlene’s restaurant in Pefferlaw, ON. A second celebration was held at her apartment in Toronto on the 16th Oct for her neighbours and friends. Both celebrations were well attended and many memories were shared. She will be greatly missed by all. Donations in Evelyn’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
