BURGESS, Carol Anne – 71, Yarmouth, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born December 24, 1939 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Ensley “Pudge” and Evangeline Mae (Doucette) Cushing. Carol worked as a seamstress in Yarmouth all of her life, loving every minute of it. She worked at The Thistle Knit, Singers, Home Sweet Home and most recently at Le’s Fashion, having also found the time to teach others to sew at a night school course she offered. She also put together countless stuffed animals which she donated to the IWK Hospital. Carol also enjoyed knitting. She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, William “Bill” Burgess, as well as their children, Merton (Bev), Yarmouth; Ensley (Lil), Edmonton; Denise, Yarmouth; Hilda, Yarmouth; grandchildren, John William, Stephanie, Ian, Nicholas, and a great grandson, Noah. Also surviving are a sister, Veronica, Yarmouth, and a brother, Bill (Keith), British Columbia. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Ensley and Dave. Visitation took place from 7-9 Tuesday evening, with prayers at 8 p.m. at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where the funeral was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or to a charity of one’s choice.
