HAMILTON, GERALD AUSTIN (1940-2009)
Gerry passed away on October 27, 2009 with family by his side. Gerry entered the world in a renovated granary on a farm near Leroy, SK, the 2nd of 11 children born to Joseph and Margaret Hamilton. Gerry’s employment history began at the age of 14 with the Leroy Co-Operative. Later Gerry was trained at Kelsey Institute in Resources Management. He worked as a conservation officer, firearms safety officer and bird dog officer throughout the province of Saskatchewan. In the late seventies, Gerry began part time farming and upon retirement, became a “dedicated gentleman farmer”, contributing greatly to wild life food supply. Gerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, cards, dominoes, woodwork and was a willing volunteer in the community; and tolerated travelling to appease his spouse. Gerry was a mellow, go-with-the-flow person, compassionate and generous. He genuinely enjoyed visits with family and friends and a good laugh. Gerry is survived by his loving wife Shirley; his son Scott (Christine) and their children Chantal and Hunter; his son Michael and his daughter Janna (Kelly) Anderson and their children Alyson and Connor. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Maxine (Steve), Peggy (Lee), Jeannette (John), Johanna (Lew), Marlene (Roman), Debbie, Doug (Cheryl), John and Glenn (Bonnie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Margaret Hamilton; grandson Joshua Michael and infant brother Norman. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Prince Albert, SK.
