SWINAMER, Olive Effie - 91, of Waterville, Kings County, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Leminster, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Harding and Effie (Wile) O’Leary. Olive was able to stay in her own home until her passing and got great enjoyment from her cats. She loved doing the Lexicon as well as jig-saw and crossword puzzles. She was an avid gardener, loved eating sweets, especially chocolate, had a great sense of humour and growled at the big black dog Scamp. Olive was a quiet and private lady, always content to be at home. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother and was loved very much by all. She is survived by two daughters, Judy and Marjorie, Waterville; a son, Keith (Bev), Middle Sackville; a daughter-in-law Pam, Bedford; and a son-in-law Clyde Saunders, Middle Sackville and a special niece Paulette. She is also survived by her sisters, Aileen “Rita” Swinamer, Gypsum Mines, Thelma Leary and Merle Phillips, both of Windsor; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald, a daughter Jean, a son, Bryant, two sisters, Lily and Winnie; two brothers, Murray and Milton, and a grandson Chad. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. There was no visitation, by request. A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Berwick Cemetery, Reverend Charles Bull officiating. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice. The family extends a special thank you to Paulette and Paul, Cindy, Janice and J.J., Tom, Cathy Cooke, EHS Paramedics, Waterville Fire Department and Doctor Keri McAdoo.
