It is with great sadness, that we announce the sudden passing of David Randolph Hebb, 61, on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax, NS, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Halifax, NS, he was a son of the late Thomas and Marjorie "Joan" (Weagle) Hebb.
Following his high school graduation in Bedford, NS, Dave joined the Canadian Armed Forces where he served with the Three Field Engineer Squadron in Chilliwack, BC and Cyprus for five years. Later he worked for Corrections Canada as a Correctional Officer in Matsqui, BC from where he transferred to the Springhill Penitentiary, from which he retired after 35 years of service with the title of Correctional Officer II.
In his spare time, Dave had a great passion for his Truck and Motorcycles and was a past member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcements Motorcycle Club for 10 years as well as a active member of the Canadian Army Veterans Motorcycle Association. Dave also enjoyed a good game of Darts and spending time with his family and many friends.
He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife the former, Carol Perry; his children, Rebecca (Becky) Hebb of Richmond BC, Greg of Okotoks AB, and David James (DJ) of Surrey BC; two brothers, Thomas (Tom) (Linda) of Port Howe NS, and Terry (Marilyn) of Kentville NS; two sisters, Sheila Martin of Dartmouth NS and Linda MacDonnell of Halifax NS; five grandchildren, Samantha, Mackenzie, Joseph, Jaxon and Oliver; brother in law, Stephen Perry of Amherst; as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends, Herb Titus, Bob Churchill, Dave Black, Shelly Carroll, Doug Currie and many more.
In addition to his parents, Dave was predeceased by his son, Rickey.
A time of visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. from Campbell's Funeral Home 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating.
Interment will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
Donations in Dave's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Schizophrenic Association, Huntington's Society or charity of your choice.
