KNOWLTON, H. Joyce – 78, of Parrsboro, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Heath Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Capt. Ralph and Charlotte (McGrath) Ogilvie. Joyce was a member of St. Brigid’s Church, the C.W.L. and was a past member of the board of directors of the Ship’s Company Theatre. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing bridge, cooking and volunteering. Joyce enjoyed sharing tales of her childhood seafaring experiences aboard schooners with her family and friends. For many years, she assisted her husband, Keith who was the local Imperial Oil agent with the bookkeeping. Later, they operated Knowlton House B&B for sixteen years. For the past 2 and a half years, Joyce was a resident of Chignecto Manor in Advocate Harbour. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Knowlton-Leblond (Jocelyn), Quebec, PQ; a son, Charles (Julie), Calgary; sisters, Anne Kierstead (Morton), Wolfville; Ruth Bodie (Steve), Calgary; Bruce Ogilvie (Maureen), Calgary; four granddaughters, Sara, Michele, Kristy, Kelly; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Keith; a son, Brian; sister, Irene. Cremation has taken place. Memorial and committal services will be held at a later date.
