Ivan MacFarlane
Truro / Pictou - MacFARLANE, James Ivan -73, of Truro and formerly of Harris Rd., Pictou County passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Three Brooks, Pictou County, he was a son of the late James & Annie (MacKinnon) MacFarlane.
Ivan was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, Local 244, Antigonish; Local 488 Edmonton; and Local 56, Halifax.
He loved to travel in his 5th wheel R.V., and was coast to coast many times, wintering in Arizona for the last 18 years. Ivan was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pictou. He was also an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and enjoyed crib.
Surviving are his best friend and loving wife of 52 years, Connie (Bateman); daughters, Anne (Richard) Best, New Glasgow and Debbie, Riverton; son, Dougie, MacLellan’s Brook; grandchildren, Natasha & Theoren MacFarlane; brothers, Frank (Linda), Three Brooks; Keith (Judy), Trenton, Ontario; nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Ivan’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Canadian Cancer Society, Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of McLaren Funeral Service, Pictou.
