ALCHORN, DONNA MARJORIE - The family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Donna, November 2, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Donna died at home with family at her side. Donna Marjorie Alchorn (nee Gillespie) was born February 10, 1947, in Saint John, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Garfield and Marjorie (Marr) Gillespie. Donna was employed in management at the Bank of Nova Scotia for many years. After moving to Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, Donna was employed with Home Hardware until July of this year. Donna was a member of Seabells of Saint John, New Brunswick and enjoyed active sports and was a member of Sports Experts Touch Football team, Saint John, New Brunswick. Donna was a kind and loving woman and will be missed by all who knew her. Donna is survived by her husband John Belding Alchorn, Elmsdale; one son Shane Aaron Cunningham (Gail Anderson), Saint John; granddaughters Angela Case, Samantha Jane Cunningham and Jill Donna Jean Cunningham, Alchorn brothers and sisters-in-law. Donna was predeceased by a brother Michael Gillespie.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home. No visitation by request. Funeral service 3 pm, Friday, November 4, in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, Exit 10 off Highway 102, Rev. David LeBlanc officiating. A funeral service will also be held from the chapel of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Monday, November 7th at 10:00am. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
