CREELMAN (Davis), Mary Elizabeth – 89, Val’s Rest Home, Hilden, formerly of South Branch, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday afternoon, November 2, 2011, at the home where she lived for the past six years. Born February 23, 1922, in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Pearl (Meadows) Davis. (Stewiacke) She was married in 1946 to the late Lloyd Creelman and they spent their married life settled in South Branch. Mary had a love of music, which she represented by becoming the organist at Stewiacke United Church at the early age of 14 and later filled in at South Branch United Church. Mary assisted in managing her husband Lloyd’s business affairs for several years and also enjoyed raising her children. She was a long time member of Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Stewiacke Branch. She will be fondly remembered for her love of animals and her kind heart. Mary always had something sweet to say to anyone she spoke with and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. A special thank you to the Palliative Care Team, VON and the staff at Val’s Rest Home for the exceptional care Mary received in her final journey. Mary is survived by her loving children, David, Truro; Margaret (Donald) Fisher, Hilden; William, South Branch; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Mary’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., today, November 4, 2011, and where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011, Reverend Larry Harrison officiating. Interment in South Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society, Palliative Care Unit at Colchester Regional Hospital or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed.
