SHIRLEY: Ellen Margaret Shirley (nee: Aitken) July 25, 1926 - October 28, 2011: Ellen Shirley, wife of Wally Shirley, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2011, surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband Wally of 63 years, her children: Rick (Linda), Ian (Marilyn), Joanne (Marshall), Nancy (Sam), Janice and Barbara; seven grandchildren (one predeceased) and seven great grandchildren. Ellen was born and raised in Swift Current. She is the last of ten children of William and Euphemia Aitken. Ellen loved her flowers. She worked many years at Smart's Flower Shop as a floral designer. Gardening was her life and flowers were her passion. She passed on that knowledge and love to her family. After retiring from the flower shop she enjoyed many years of volunteering for home care. Wally and Ellen loved to travel, and in their retirement spent many enjoyable years in Tucson, Arizona. No service will be held at Ellen's request.
