ARTHUR (ART) WANDLER

Born In: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Passed in: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Arthur (Art) Wandler passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Hospital on Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 at the age of 71.

Art was born to Walter and Bertha on July 7, 1938. He grew up on the family farm in the Fox Valley area and this is where he met and married Edna, his wife of forty years. Art and Edna moved to Kamloops, BC in 1973 where they raised their two sons, Alan and Sean, whom Art was very proud of. Art always encouraged his sons to play sports and he came to their games faithfully. Whether it was a sport he loved (baseball) or a sport he did not understand (basketball), the boys could rely on seeing their dad in the stands. It can not be overstated how important this was to them. In 1993, Alan married Teresa who truly was accepted and loved as the daughter he never had. Art continued to follow the sports careers of his grandchildren, Taylor and Alexa. Art was always proud of their accomplishments on the field and at school, and he always wanted to know all of the details of the event when he called. Art worked at the Kamloops Weyerhaeuser Pulp Mill for 25 years. Upon retirement, Art and Edna moved to Medicine Hat where they re-established many relationships from their Fox Valley days. Art had a passion for woodworking and it was during his time in Medicine Hat that his passion flourished creating custom furniture for satisfied customers throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Art is survived by his wife Edna (Haaf), his two sons, Sean and Alan, daughter-in-law Teresa and grandchildren Taylor and Alexa. As a final thought, the family is sure that Art would like to say one last thing: GO RIDERS!

Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday evening from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 - 10:55 a.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church (238 2nd Ave NE.) on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr.
