Passed on: November 4th, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alex Budge, 76, on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil’s Harbour, who fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Haven, Victoria County, he was a fisherman all of his life, who retired in 2000 and the fall of 2000 was diagnosed with cancer. He enjoyed family get-togethers and his Newfoundland Music, which he listened to until the end. He also enjoyed trout fishing with his good friend Wayne Budge.
Alex is survived by his loving wife Annie for 45 years, and an only child, a daughter, Linda and his son-in-law Kenny Briand of White Point, who he referred to as his “ole Buddy”; and the only grandchild Tommy, who he thought the world of and was so proud of. All he wanted was to see him excel in life. Alex is also survived by a sister, Eleanor (James) Smith and a brother, Gordie, both of New Haven; seven nieces and nephews; seven great-nieces and nephews.
Alex was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Blanche (Turner), two brothers, Allan, George (Buddy), and a sister, Marie, and in-laws, Thomas and Hilda Nash.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Fillmore and Whitman. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery, Neil’s Harbour, with Rev. Warren Huestis officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in Alex’s name to the Buchanan Hospital or Palliative Care, Neil’s Harbour.
Online condolence may be sent the family at www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
To some you may be forgotten
and to others a part of the past
But to us who loved and lost you,
your memory will always last.
