Hank passed away peacefully at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital, Clearwater, with his family by his side.
He was born in Kamloops, B.C. but raised in Chu Chua. He lived part of his life in Alberta where he worked for construction and the general workers union, mainly in surveying.
Hank returned home to work for the Simpcw First Nation, formerly known as the North Thompson Indian Band, for several years in maintenance, and more recently, as a contract worker.
He graduated from Barriere Secondary School in 1974. Hank enjoyed playing baseball in his early life, playing for the Chu-Chua Chiefs throughout much of B.C. He also enjoyed playing basketball and supporting the Chu-Chua basketball teams over the years.
Hank is survived by his sister Rose Miller (Celesta), brothers Alfred Phillips (Dee), Eddie Celesta (Louisa) and Ernie Celesta. He also leaves to cherish his memory several of his “favourite” nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
Hank was predeceased by his mother Celestine Celesta (Christopher), his father Henry Celesta, his brother Bob Celesta and sister Joyce Ironside.
The wake will be held at Hank’s home in Chu-Chua, beginning at noon on Monday, November 7th, 2011.
The service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 in the Chu-Chua Community Hall.
