Luke Richard Jeddry - March 19, 1933 - October 18, 2011. Luke passed away peacefully in Saskatoon following a difficult illness. His strength and determination inspired his family and all those who knew him. Luke was born in St. Alphonse, on the South West Shore of Nova Scotia. His love of music started early and he played music with friends that he maintained contact with for the rest of his life. He left the east coast to pursue his love of music and found another love.....Baseball. He played baseball in the junior league in Toronto and his talent was noticed by the Cincinnati Reds. Work came first and he chose to remain in Toronto. During this time, he served in Canada's Military, hauled boats and large watercraft into the US, pursued a pilots certification and still found time to take the Ontario Provincial Championship for Mandolin. Always keeping family close in mind, one day shortly after, in his mothers driveway appeared a delivery truck with a couch set which is still in the family home in Nova Scotia. That generous spirit and deep commitment to family is who he was for the rest of his life. Luke travelled further west working and playing music. Music took him as far as the Arctic Circle where he entertained crowds with his natural talent and dry Acadian humor. It was during this time in his life that he met his next big love...his future wife Mary. They married and raised a family. Living in Lake Doucette, Nova Scotia and returning to Saskatchewan in 1979, their family grew with the arrival of their grandchildren. Through the years, his love of music and baseball was evident thorough sponsoring and coaching men's fastball teams and producing music for so many northern artists. He inspired and supported many athletes and musicians over the years and could still talk about the talent and potential that was in so many of them. His entrepreneurial spirit and courage to always see the possibilities could be seen through his business, his projects and his passion for the things he loved. Luke's spirit lives on through his family and all those he helped and supported over the years. His lesson to us is to have the courage to pursue the things you are passionate about. Teach those coming behind us to work hard, be good to others, be generous with your time and knowledge. Be proud of who you are and never stop believing that anything is possible. Services will be held on Saturday November 12th at 11:00 am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Salmon River, Nova Scotia. He will be laid to rest in the community that was always so dear to his heart. On behalf of his wife Mary, his children, Curtis (Sheila), Randy (Michelle), Wendy (Terry), Carla (Ralph), Vawn (Randy) and his grandchildren Ryan and Hailey, please accept our thanks for celebrating the life of a truly exceptional man….Luke Richard Jeddry.
