MacKay, Ross Alvin – 80, Truro, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2011 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Union Station, Colchester County, he was the son of the late George “Stanley” and Janie (MacLean) MacKay. Ross retired after 43 years with CN and later VIA Rail. Up until the last few years he enjoyed bowling, horse shoes, 4 wheeling, hunting and doing his woodworking for which he was extremely talented. He enjoyed his Johnny Cash music and was a die hard Toronto Maple Leaf fan. He and Sharon enjoyed RVing with special friends, Marg & Kay Forbes. They also spent many weekends traveling and camping with their grandchildren. In his later years he spent time with the Corner Crew at their Brule Cottage. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon (Campbell); daughter, Kelly Deuville, Truro; sons, Michael (Margo), Bible Hill, Dale (Karen), Greenfield; grandchildren, Brandon Deuville, Ottawa and Natalie Deuville, Truro, Derek (Megan) MacKay, Hilden and Mark MacKay, Truro, Christopher MacKay, Greenfield; sister, Sylvia (Lloyd) Kaulback, Greenfield; brother, Arnold (Beth) MacKay, Union Station; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell (Judy) Campbell, Cardinal, Ontario; son-in-law Daryl Deuville; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruby MacKay; two brothers in infancy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9th from 1 – 2 p.m. with memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Mary White and Rev. Curtis MacDonald officiating. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or Greenfield United Church.
