JOAN TYRELL
Passed on: October 28th, 2011
It is with great sadness that Joan’s family announces her passing.
Joan was a Beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, and Aunt.
She wore many different hats in her lifetime. Graduating from nursing at Gray Nuns Hospital in 1953, she went on to become a caring compassionate nurse
A career that she flourished in. She met Walter her husband in 1952 and they married in June of 1957.
The dashing RCMP and the lovely Nurse were married for 54 years. Together they had 3 children Janet, Sharon (Stuart) and David.
The role that Joan valued most was that of Nana to Dawn, Steven, Katherine, Heather, Thomas, Carolyn and Lindsay, and great grandchildren Mya and Kia.
Her grandchildren were her joy and she played a valuable role in their lives, which will be remember and felt for decades to come.
She is remember for her love of baking her grandchildren’s favourite treats, sewing Halloween Costumes, and her knitting of that first baby outfit to not only her own grandchildren but those of her many nieces and nephews. Most she was a Nana to go to when the hurts of life needed mending.
Her family would like to thank the kind care she received from the staff at Pinegrove Place, where Joan spent the last 3 years of her life. Her husband Walter's devotion never wavered. He spent every day with her, bringing her fresh flowers daily, and seeing to her care and comfort.
There is a saying that time heals all wounds but I don’t think that is true, some wounds leave scars, and an ache that is felt long after the scare has faded. Those of us that knew Joan will forever be touched by having her in their lives. And will feel the void her passing has left in their lives, yet know that her suffering is over.
It was Joan’s wish to return to her home on the prairies.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated
