Smith, John Aubrey “Jack” — 90, formerly of Windsor Forks, Hants Co. and Avonport, Kings Co., passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, Hants Co., where he has been a resident for over three years. Born on March 22, 1921, in Martock, Hants Co., he was the eldest son of J. Reg and Florence (Brown) Smith. Jack was a caring husband and father. He enjoyed being outside and spending time with family and friends. He loved all animals, especially dogs. Even as his illness progressed, he kept busy and worked with a smile on his face and a smile in his heart. With his wife, Mary, Jack operated a service station for nearly 40 years in Windsor Forks. He was a member of St. Michael’s Anglican Church and was a Church Warden for 15 years. He joined the Rotary Club of Windsor in 1965, where he was active in maintaining the Rotary Camp and Radio Auction. He achieved perfect attendance for over 35 years and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the Eastern Valley Shrine Club. Jack was a highly respected Past Master and 50 Year Jewel Holder in Welsford Lodge #26 A.F. & A.M., Windsor. He was also a long time member and Past High Priest of The Hiram Chapter #3 of the Royal Arch Masons. He was a life member of both. Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Mary Eileen MacDonald; his only daughter, Jacqueline (Patrick) Gordon, Truro Heights; siblings, Violet Fillmore, Windsor; Ken (Helene), Windsor; Arnie, Currys Corner; Ella (Jim) Markham, Santa Barbara, Ca.; sister-in-law, Bette Smith, Windsor; brother-in-law, Eric Boyd, Bedford; numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Margaret Boyd; brothers, Henry, Ronnie, and Donnie; sisters-in-law, Helena and Leona; brother-in-law, Donald Fillmore. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Friday, November 4, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011, in St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Windsor Forks. The Rev. Tom Henderson, and Jack’s nephews, Rev. Michael Boyd and Rev. John Boyd, officiated. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, followed by a reception at the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. Family flowers only.
