Olga Hamm, age 80, of Sackville, N.B., passed away surrounded by her family at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011. Born in Knutsford, P.E.I., she was a daughter of the late Allison and Charlotte (Sweet) Harris. After enjoying her school years in a one-room school, she graduated at age 16 from Knutsford School. Living in Charlottetown from 1950 to 1961 she then moved to Sackville, N.B. As a secretary, she was employed at Mount Allison University and later with the Dept. of Health. Olga was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi International, the United Church Women, a long-time member of Beausejour Chapter of the IODE and secretary of the Official Board of the Sackville United Church for several years, active member of the Sackville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Club of Sackville. Olga will be sadly missed by her husband Doug. A wonderful mother to her three children, she will be fondly remembered by daughter, Gaelyne (David) Norris, Tantallon, N.S.; two sons, Dr. Greg (Cindy) Donald, Ammon, N.B., and Garry (Ruth) Donald, Riverview, N.B.; seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Kelly, Gillian, Connor and Jarvis Donald and Devon and Derek Norris; brothers: Vance (Barb), Garth (Ann) and Garland (Kay) Harris; step-children: Katherine (Bruce) Archibald, Linda Hamm and James Hamm; and nine step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Nathan, and brother Lorne. Olga’s remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300) with visitation Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. with Right Rev. George Lemmon and Archdeacon Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial in the Summerside Cemetery, Summerside, at a later date.
