It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Alfred Joseph ‘Bubs’ Mills, 64, on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at his home in Sydney Mines.
Born in Sydney Mines on September 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Alfred Sr. and Annie Mae (Walsh) Mills. He was a member of Carman United Church, Sydney Mines. He worked for Devco for 32 years before retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Brenda (Rideout) Mills, and his four sons; Derek, Dwayne (Christal), Jody (Kelly) and Jason (Leslee); grandchildren Ashlea, Christian, Brett, Caleb, Payton, Grahame, Renee, Gabriele, Kennadie, Khowen, Kai and Karter, and great-grandson Kail. Also left to mourn are his brother Ecie (Cathy); sister Emily and mother-in-law Jessie Rideout (Robert) and family.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011, at 2 p.m. in Carman United Church, Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating.
The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Wawer, the staff of 4 West, Northside General Hospital, and his many friends.
Donations in Alfred's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Palliative Care society.
