It is with heavy hearts that we the family are deeply saddened and regret to announce the sudden passing of Barry on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. Barry was formerly of Mira Road, and the son of the late Cyril and Jenny (MacNeil) Cook.
Barry was a kind and loving person to all that knew him, he loved his family especially his children and grandchildren, who he was extremely proud of. Barry was a loving father, brother and a great friend to everyone.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Jennifer) Cook, Fall River; daughter, Jennifer (Jamie), Sydney; grandson, Phoenix; granddaughter, Ciara; sisters, Darlene (Bill) Heron, Paris, Ont., Wendy, North Sydney; brothers, Danny (Mila), Toronto, Ont., Elden, Brantford, Ont.; and Jackie Kennedy, the mother of his children. He is also survived by his aunt, Mary MacNeil, Glace Bay, and aunt, Rita Gooch, Stratford, Ont.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends as well as his special friend, Mona Ford.
Besides his parents Barry was predeceased by a sister and four brothers in infancy and brother-in-law, John Lyle.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 at the Immaculate Heart Church, Mira Road, with Fr. Gerald Dunphy officiating. Reception to follow at Chant’s Funeral Home. Burial to follow at later date.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
