William Rowan
ROWAN, WILLIAM (BILL) ALBERT - It is with much sadness that the family of William (Bill) Albert Rowan announce his passing at the D.E.C.R.H. on November 11, 2011. Bill was born in Lincoln, N.B. on June 10, 1931 to the late Albert and Eileen (Crocket) Rowan. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Goodine), two sons, Gregory (Alice) and John (Shirley), several grandchildren, in particular, William (Carla) Rowan and Nicole (James) Hamilton, four great-grandchildren, Dawson Rowan and Colby, Kylee and Brody Hamilton; a brother James (Jean) Rowan and a sister Jean (Colin-deceased) McKinnon, both of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by a daughter Grace (Gracie). Bill was associated with St.Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree member of the Knight’s of Columbus, member and Past President of the Garrison Club and one of the Charter members of the Lincoln Lions Club. Bill’s early employment years were with the family business, The Daily Gleaner, started by his Great - Grandfather James H. Crocket. He was later employed with both the Province of New Brunswick, Dept. of Labour and Federal Government Labour Canada, until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Maquapit Lake. In season he enjoyed trout and salmon fishing and bird hunting.
Visitation will be at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 15th, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lincoln on Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 at 12 noon with Fr. Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment to follow reception at the Hermitage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
