Christina Irene ‘Rene’ MacLean-Campbell

It is with great sadness that the family of Christina Irene MacLean-Campbell announce her passing at Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Nov. 14, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Mariner and Ina (MacNeil) Fleming.
Rene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, stepmother and sister. She cherished the times she spent with her family and grandchildren, they were the light of her life. For many years she was active in the Girl Guides movement.
Rene was an RNA who worked at St. Rita’s Hospital for many years. She belonged to Our Lady of Fatima and St. Mary’s Parish, East Bay. She was a devoted member of the CWL and enjoyed all the many meals that they prepared for all.
Leaving to mourn her loss, her devoted husband, Angus Campbell; her two cherished children, Shauna MacLean (David), Rob MacLean (Heather); her two most loving grandchildren, Nathan and James MacLean. Her six stepchildren, whom she loved dearly, Marg (Steve), Liz (Bill), Judy (Bernie), Mike (Cheryl), Jody (Angie) and David. Also left to mourn her loss is her brother, Marnie (Sandra )Fleming, Saint John, N.B.; nephews, Mark and Darren, nieces, Angie, Cindy and Maureen.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Francis MacLean, brother, Hugh, sister Isabell, and stepson, Peter.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral mass will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Our Lady of Fatima, Sydney River, with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating. A reception to follow in the basement. Interment to take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
