The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, of Ruth Poirier of Summerside, aged 81 years. Born in Summerside, she was the daughter of the late Raymond “Ray” and Flora (Gauthier) Poirier. Survived by her children Donna (Blaine) Hannay, Rexton, N.B.; Paul (Michelle) Perry, Summerside; Paulette (Kenny) Wigmore, North Granville; grandchildren Jamie Ward, Josh (Amy) Hannay, Jana (Tim) Carter, Jasmine Wigmore, James Wigmore; great-grandchildren Casey, Hannah and Blaine Ward; Malcolm Carter; and Liam Hannay; brothers and sisters Elaine (Fred) Dale, Audrey Arsenault, Leo (Louise) Poirier, Ken (Joan) Perry, Ray (Norma) Poirier, Allen (Pat) Poirier, Marjorie (Ron) Johnston, Johanne (Barry) Rowan; sister-in-law Henrietta Poirier; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Lloyd Poirier, sister Evelyn Godfrey, brothers-in-law Ernie Arsenault and Gordie Godfrey; and by her sister-in-law Marg Poirier. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Thursday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
