It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Murdock Gabriel Odo, on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 at home.
Born in New Waterford on March 24, 1949 Murdock was the son of Thomas Wilfred ‘Duddie’ Odo and the late Theresa (Gillis) Odo. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a member of St. Agnes Church. He drove taxi for 10 years with Scotchtown Taxi and then later was employed at Mayflower Mall for 18 years as maintenance supervisor.
Murdock loved travelling over the Cabot Trail and vacationing in Cheticamp. He always enjoyed a good game of tarabish with his dad and his brothers, loved being around people and was an avid sports fan.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn (Brown) Odo; daughter, Theresa (Dwight Lush) Odo, Glace Bay; son, Wayne, at home; brothers, Johnny (Patsy), Dave, William ‘Bam’ (Susan), Tommy (Shannon), all of New Waterford; Wilfred (Myrna), Westmount; and Bobby, Windsor, ON. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Emily Odo.
Murdock was predeceased by his mother, Theresa.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 10 a.m. at the Parish Church of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford, with Fr. Paul MacNeil officiating.
A luncheon will follow the mass at St. Agnes Hall. All are welcome.
Donations may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
