Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on October 31st, 2009. Jack Duke, longtime employee of St. John’s City Council, age 73 years. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Caroline; brothers: Tommy and Peter. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Mary (nee Kieley); sons: John Jr. (Jody), Gus (Kim) and Paddy (Geraldine); daughters: Janet (Gus) and Elizabeth (Derrick); sister Jean Voisey; brothers: Tom and Paddy; grandchildren: Michael (Jill), Craig (Kara), Matthew (Jenn) Melissa, Jonathan, Justin, Miranda, Ashton, Kolby, Barry, Ricky, Jocelyn, Axl, Felicity and Stephen; his dog Ozzy; also other relatives and friends. Special thank you to the nurses and doctors of the Health Sciences Centre Emergency Department and the many paramedics for their special care during his lengthy illness. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Monday 2 to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Teresa’s Church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Lung Association.
