DOUCETTE, Dexter Lee – Passed away November 12, 2011 after a long battle with liver disease. Dexter was born in Yarmouth Nova Scotia, August 6, 1948, the son of the late James and Betty (Porter) Doucette. Dexter was a father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He was also known for his kind heart. He was a lobster fisherman for most of his life. He was the first recipient of a liver transplant at the QE II Hospital in 2004 and was passionate about raising awareness and funds for the Canadian Liver Foundation. He is survived by his devoted wife Gail Doucette, Yarmouth; Daughters, Kelly (Chris) Croke, Braintree Mass.; Sherry (Tony) Surette, Yarmouth; Susan (Craig) Landry, Yarmouth; Sandra McBride, Yarmouth; Sons, Mark (Linda) Doucette, Braintree, Mass.; Dean (Jill) Doucette, Holbrook, Mass.; Matthew Comeau, Moncton, N.B; nieces, nephews and 11 Grandchildren. He was predeceased by Brothers Alden, Mitchell and son Dexter. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Monday November 14th from 7-9 p.m from Sweeny’s Funeral Home South Room. A funeral service was held Tuesday November 15th, 2011 at 4 P.M from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Oral Stewart officiated. Cremation took place following the service under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium. Burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only please.
