(October 28, 1936 - November 1, 2009). Passed suddenly on November 1, 2009, Bernard Joseph Nash, formerly of Branch, St. Mary’s Bay. Predeceased by his wife Bride (Downey), parents Patrick and Mary Nash, brothers Mike and James, sisters Agnes Careen (Austin), Mary Ryan (Tom), Sadie Squires (Tom), Nora Corcoran (Dave) and Clara Lundrigan (Ed), brothers-in-law Lew White, Junie Downey and Dan Downey; sister-in-law Kathleen Downey. Leaving to mourn his sad loss are his loyal friend and companion Joan Hann, his son Rodney (Kelly) and mother Mary; grandchildren Justin and Amy; sisters Carrie White, Loretta Dohey (Clem), Delores Wade (Ed), special niece Loretta Corcoran; sisters-in-law Helen Nash and Ethel Downey; stepson Gary Downey (Rosalind); step-grandchildren Blair and Erin; step-great-grandchild Arianna; his extended family Irene (Cal) Chipman, Susann (Jamie) and Kelsey Fifield, Randy (Melanie) and Reid Chipman. He will be fondly missed by his many nieces, nephews and numerous friends and relatives, especially Dennis (Annie) Nash, Albert (Mary) Nolan, Ray Wickens and Esther Lane and nephew David Corcoran. Benny lived a wonderful life. His retirement years were spent to the fullest, traveling, hunting, fishing, berry picking and visiting his many friends and relatives. His final moments were spent doing what he loved best, checking his rabbit snares. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and then on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from St. Teresa’s Parish, Mundy Pond at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
