March 12, 1913 - November 2, 2009. Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen’s Home, Clarke’s Beach, on Monday, November 2, 2009, Helena Pollett of New Harbour, aged 96 years. Helena was born March 12, 1913 in Port Blanford, N..L. and was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army. She is predeceased by her parents Rachel (Layden) and Albert Pardy, husband Herbert Charles Pollett, infant twin daughters Joan and Jean and son Charles, brothers: Ralph, Wilson, Clyde and Harvey, sister Mary Grace Penney. Leaving to mourn are her children: Elva Higdon, Dildo, N.L.; Bertha Beresford, Windsor, Ont.; and Millie (Roy) Mullins, Kitchener, Ont.; sons: Edward (Loretta), Harbour Grace, N.L.; Albert (Kim) Bomanville, Ont.; Joe (Bernice), Pontypool, Ont.; David (Judy), Whiteway, N.L. Also lovingly remembered by 31 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-granchildren; sisters: Elva Rideout, Corner Brook and Nellie Chaulk, Buchans, N.L.; brother George Pardy (Margaret), Pasadena, N.L.; and sister-in-law Chloe Scanlon (George), Whitby, Ont. A large number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and a large circle of friends. Resting at Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo with visitation on Wednesday, November 4th, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, November 5th, 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The funeral service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel TBS Corps on Thursday, November 5th at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army or the Diabetes Association.
