SPASOFF - Hilda passed away at the Palliser Regional Care Centre on Thursday, October 29, 2009, at age 92. She was born March 11, 1917, to parents Alfred and Florrie Simpson, on the farm at Hodgeville. Hilda spent most of her life in the Hodgeville area. She married Carl in 1938, and they raised a family of three children: Bob (Sylvia) of Ottawa, George (Valerie) of Hodgeville, and Marion (Al) Mochoruk of Nipawin; grandchildren: Nicola (Eric), Jason (Sandra), Chris, Kenny (Amy), Kirby, and Candace; great-grandchildren: Torbjorn, Alicia, Nicole and Tori. Hilda was predeceased by her husband Carl; her parents; two brothers, Tom and Jack; and her sister, Florence. She is also survived by her sister, Mary, of Calgary; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Luella. Mom took her role of wife and mother seriously. She took an active role in farm life, community events, and church, both in Hodgeville and Swift Current. She and Dad enjoyed their retirement in Swift Current but regularly returned to help out with farm activities at Hodgeville. She loved her grandchildren, loved to sing, to bake and was a gracious hostess. Mom was a champion of those less fortunate. She appreciated the prairie landscape and the love of family and friends. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephens Anglican Church with Reverend David Nevett officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephens Anglican Church or to the Palliser Regional Care centre. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parkside Memorial Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
