John Joseph Francis (aka-Red) Cloarec passed away November 17, 2011 at the age of 96. Red was a life long resident of Swift Current. He was born on February 8, 1915 to Joseph and Margaret (nee Carduner) Cloarec and was the oldest of seven children. After his school years, he worked a number of jobs, and played a lot of baseball before beginning his long career with the CPR. Red went to work on the railroad November 15, 1941 and retired July 1, 1977. He began a second career as a salesman for Century 21 as well as earning licences to sell a number of securities. Red enjoyed most sports and was a diehard fan of the Habs and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He went to his grave believing Jean Beliveau was a better hockey player than Wayne Gretzky. In his later years, he enjoyed his morning coffee with good friends at the Co-0p Lunch Counter. Red is survived by his sister Val Cloarec of Calgary, sister-in-law Marie Cloarec of Camrose, eleven nieces and nephews and fifteen grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters: Francine, Marguerite, Josephine, Jeanne and his brother Joe. Cremation has taken place and a family burial will occur in the spring. A celebration of Red's life will occur on Saturday, November 26, at 1:00 PM at the Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 600 Circle Drive, Swift Current, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Brenda Dueck and the Home Care staff, as well as the staff at the Cypress Regional Hospital, who provided excellent care to Uncle John over the past few years. A special thanks to Sandra and Lloyd Hinks and Red's friends of many years Jeanette and John Pound. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
