It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Bill Tell on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Edward and Lily (Bennet) Tell.
Bill was employed with the Cape Breton Regional Housing as the maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed spending time at the “bungalow” in Gillis Lake with family and friends. Was an avid hockey fan (Blackhawks) and loved old Western movies. Sang in the choir at St. Theresa’s, bowled, loved tarabish and all his friends at the Ashby Legion.
Bill is survived by his wife, Julie (Domanski) Tell; children, Kathy (Art) Delaney, British Columbia, Eric (Edna) Tell, Frenchvale, Kim (Keith) Hooper, Halifax, Scott (Sandra) Tell, Whitby, Ont.; his nine precious grandchildren, Brad, Chance, Ariah, Remo, Joel, Mark, Grant, Shaylynn and Riley, his great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jess, and Shelby. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Larade, Sydney; several nieces and nephews; as well as his close family friend, Tammy Seymour.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Fred, Henry, Danny and Cyril.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral mass will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 24 at St. Theresa’s Church, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Reception to follow at the Ashby Legion.
