PINEAU, PETER “PETE” “PISTOL” - Peter “Pete” “Pistol” Pineau, 64, of Moncton, and formerly of Charlottetown, with his family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday evening, November 21, 2011. Born in Charlottetown, he was the son of Joseph and Mabel (Cumming) Pineau of Moncton and formerly of Charlottetown. Pete was a former employee of Allsco Building Products Ltd. and was of the Catholic faith. An all around athlete, Pete played junior ball with the Moncton Cubs when they won the Maritime Keefe Cup title and played senior baseball with the Moncton Schooners. Pete played hockey with the Eaton’s Vikings, the Moncton Alpines and with the Moncton Bears, when they won the Hardy Cup in 1974/75. He continued playing hockey in his senior years with the Moncton Roadrunners and later became an avid golfer at Magnetic Hill Golf & Country Club (Mountain Woods Golf Club). Pete was a very loyal and avid Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays fan. Besides his parents, Joseph and Mabel, Pete will be sadly missed by his sisters, Gail Smith (Douglas) of Dieppe, Lynda Monaghan (Fred) of Moncton; nephews, Kevin and Colin Monaghan, both of Moncton; niece, Kelly Smith (Tim Holten) of Moncton; great niece, Hayley Smith; several cousins, several aunts and uncles in Scotland and Prince Edward Island.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday, November 25, 2011, 9:30 am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 am in Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bernard Sloan officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Special thanks to the nursing staff of The Moncton Hospital 6th floor Oncology Unit for the love and care given to Pete. Also, special thanks to the employees of Allsco who helped Peter through this difficult time.
