Geraldine Taylor
It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Geraldine Viola Taylor age 51 of Leicester, Cumberland County announce her passing on Sunday, November 20, 2011.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of Eleanor "Nell" (Mawdsley) Taylor of Amherst and the late Gerald Taylor.
In her younger years, Geraldine worked as a paralegal for the Court of Queen's Bench in the city of Calgary. After moving back home in 1995, she worked for CRSS at Fox Ranch Road, Amherst and later MacDonald House on MacDonald Road. Geraldine became a foster parent in 2008 due to her love for children with disabilities.
She will be sadly missed by her spouse Jimmy Smith, her daughter Patricia (Troy) Taylor-Richards of Amherst and her son Jeffery (Sarah) Iversen of Calgary, AB as well as her foster children Braedyn and Trysta whom she adored.
Geraldine also leaves to mourn her mother Nell, four sisters Gwen (Brian) and Donna (Scott) both of Ponoka, AB, Barbara (George) of Dartmouth, NS and Linda (David) Gould of Amherst, three grandchildren Acadya, Amber and Adria and a step granddaughter Halie as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by an infant sister Sandra Jean, her maternal grandmother Georgie Hawkes and her paternal grandparents Floyd and Viola Smith.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
Interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert, NS.
Memorial donations in Geraldine's memory may be made to the charity of Piece by Piece Autism Association or charity of your choice.
