Douglas Goddard

GODDARD, DOUGLAS W. - 1929 - 2011 - Douglas Goddard passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7th, 2011 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in South Branch, he was the son of the late Perley and Georgia (Hall) Goddard. Doug will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Jean (Guier), three daughters; Colleen LeBlanc, Heather Goddard-Fallon (Michael), Krista-Lynn Goddard, two grand daughters; Alycia and Jessica as well as two great grandchildren; Levi and Jaden. He is also survived by two half bothers; Charlie and David, one half sister Mary-Ann of Mass., as well as Uncle Harold Hall, who grew up with Doug on the farm and was like a brother to him. Doug worked a short time with Swift Canadian before joining the Irving Group as the Maritime General Manager of Speedy Propane. He retired after 40 years. Over the years Doug was actively involved in the community and held such positions as President of the Moncton Figure Skating Club, Member of St. John Ambulance, Captain of the Salvage Corps, Member of the Moncton Volunteer Fire Department, Captain of the Propane Cookers for 24hrs in June and the Model Railroad Association. Doug was also an active member of the Wesleyan Church. Everyone, especially Doug enjoyed many happy times at the family cottage in Barachois. Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be celebrated at Fair Haven Funeral Home in the Garden View Reception Room on Saturday, November 26 at 2:00 pm. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sheldon Rubin and Dr. Brian Davidson. Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530.
