Marlene Paggio

Marlene Paggio Marlene Paggio

Born to Frederick and Gerty Krueger in Medicine Hat, Alberta on June 2, 1946.
After a long battle with a number of health issues Marlene passed away on November 4, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband Enrico (1977) and her father. She is survived by her mother, brother Stan (Flo) Krueger, three nieces, sister Eileen (Daryl) Brown and many friends.
The Kruegers moved a few times during Marlene’s formative years and she lived in Alberta, BC, Washington, Oregon, California and Florida, finally returning to BC. She worked as a waitress in The Hotel Vancouver while going through UBC to become a teacher and was hired with VSB. She was seconded to teach in Lahr, Germany for two years. She returned to BC and moved to the Sunshine Coast where she had built a house on Paggio Road and taught for a while on the Sunshine Coast before retiring from teaching in 1990. She enjoyed nearly ten good years before being diagnosed with cancer which she survived but suffered from severe complications from the radiation treatment and was given less than a five per cent chance of living five years. Always up for a challenge, she defied the odds by living and enjoying life despite her health.
She was a voracious reader, accomplished knitter, loved crosswords, arts, cultural events, music and her poodles. Always up to date with her current affairs, she was a trusted advisor and confidante to a close circle of friends.
There will be a celebration of life at the Port Stalashen Clubhouse on Sunday, December 4, from 1pm to 4pm.
In Marlene’s memory, please donate to the Food Bank or the Coast Recital Society.
