FOX BROOK - William “Bill” Alfred Stevens, 67, of Fox Brook, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Kentville, January 20, 1944, he was a son of the late Alfred and Carrie (White) Stevens. Bill loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He fully enjoyed his time spent with family, especially his grandchildren; and all of his friends. He was an avid reader. Bill was Post Master for 29 years. He was a Kinsman and he spent time on Hopewell Presbyterian Church’s Board of Managers. Bill was especially proud of being a recipient of a Citation of the NS Division of the Canadian Red Cross Society in 1981 for recognition of a prompt life-saving action. He will be sadly missed by his wife Linda (Farris) Stevens; his son Sean (Judith), Calgary; and a daughter Catherine Burke (Geordie), Charlottetown; grandchildren, Marissa Burke and Marcus and Robyn Stevens. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Brothers (Stewart), Coldbrook; Barbara Quesnell (Richard), Centreville; Gloria Johnson (Ken), Coldbrook; Sylvia O’Brien (Peter), Wolfville; Patricia Upshaw (Peter), Kentville; brothers, Laurie, Berwick; Terry (Linda), Beaverbank/Lower Sackville; George, Kentville; Brian (Tina), Kentville; Ricky (Madonna), Coldbrook. He was predeceased by his brother Allen. Visitations will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell with Bonnie Crockett officiating, assisted by Rev. Gary Tonks.
