Marion Wilkinson
WILKINSON, MARION E. (R.N. ret’d) – 93, of Parrsboro passed away suddenly on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in 1918, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude Yorke. Marion graduated from the Payzant Memorial School of Nursing, Windsor and nursed in numerous hospitals throughout her career. An admired and respected nurse, she retired from the South Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Parrsboro. Though her activities were restricted due to illness for the last few years, Marion’s care and compassion for family and friends carried on. With dignity and friendship, Marion welcomed family and friends to her home. She was especially happy when her grandchildren and their families were all under one roof and no matter how tired, she delighted in the special moments she had with her great-grandchildren. She will be forever missed and has left us with an empty heart and with memories that will last our lifetime. Marion is survived by her daughter, Colleen Martin, Parrsboro; granddaughters, Chelsea Martin Heider (Luke), Ohio; Tara Neves (Tex), Apple River; great grandchildren, Tuesday Neves and Sam Heider; sisters, Helen Terfry, Diligent River; Madeline Terfry, Parrsboro; a brother, Clayton (Christina), Halifax; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Cmdr. J.G. Wilkinson (RCN ret’d); sister, Doris; brothers, Basil, Hilton and Lorway. At Marion’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
