It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the passing of Douglas Knox, the family patriarch on Nov. 3, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Oct. 8, 1923, in Plaster Rock, N.B., he was the son of Hiram and Julia (Cullion) Knox.
Doug was a wonderful, husband, father and grandfather, who was a simply, devoted family man who loved spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Christ the King Church.
He was a veteran, who served overseas during the war. Later he was employed and became a manager with the Royal Bank of Canada.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Euella (McFee); his children, Julia Niles (Frank Withers), Hampton, N.B., Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Idris) James, Doha, Qatar, Michael (Virginia), Halifax, Steven (Marilyn), Burton, N.B., Russell (Linda), New Waterford, Ronald (Darlene), Timberlea, Jeffrey, Halifax. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Knox, Plaster Rock, N.B.; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Robert ‘Bobby’ Knox, two sisters and five brothers.
There will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.
