Peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home, Charlottetown, on Thursday, November 5, 2009, of William (Bill) Wright Reid of Charlottetown, P.E.I., age 70 years.
Bill was the son of the late William and Eunice (Storey) Reid. He was born and raised in Charlottetown, although Rocky Point was always considered home.
Bill enjoyed a 38-year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, including postings in Truro, Halifax, New Glasgow, Sydney and Charlottetown, before retiring in 1995.
Forever loved and missed by his children, Heather (Sterling) Ellis, David (Juliet) Reid, and Janet (Scott) MacDonald; granddaughter, Abby MacDonald; brothers, Doug (Andria) Reid of Charlottetown; and John (Roberta) Reid of Stratford; sister, Rhonda (Gus) Houston of Charlottetown; sisters-in-law, Doreen McGuire of Saint John, N.B.; Judy (Allan) Dunsmore of Calgary, Alta.; and Sheila McGuire of London, Ont.; brothers-in-law, George (Gaye) of London, Ont.; Leo (Jeannette) of Stouffville, Ont.; Pat (Betty) of Rothesay, N.B.; Gerry (Sybil) of Gloucester, Ont.; and Jim Hayter of Miramichi, N.B.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Patty, and his parents.
Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home located at 175 Belvedere Avenue, Charlottetown, for visitation on Saturday, November 7, from 1-4 p.m., and funeral service on Sunday, November 8, at 1 p.m.
Reception to follow on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Haviland Club located at 2 Haviland Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the P.E.I. Cancer Treatment Centre or the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home.
