It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Albert Mombourquette on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with his family by his side.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Albert and Ida (MacSween) Mombourquette.
Albert was employed as a correctional officer until his retirement.
Albert was an avid Habs fan. He enjoyed anything hockey and playing tarabish. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. He had a quick wit and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Albert is survived by his partner, Gaye MacDonald; her children, Ken, Kelly and Tracey; daughter, Lisa Mombourquette, Sydney; son, Danny (Marilyn) Mombourquette, Halifax; sisters, Shirley (Willie) Roach, Donalda (Everett) Watt, Sydney; brother-in-law, Leslie Dancsecs. He is also survived by his cherished grandson, Daniel; special grandchildren, Michael, Jordyn, Kenny, Madison, Sandy, Parker; as well as the mother of his children, Marie Mombourquette.
Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by his two sisters, Georgina (Danny) Luther and Mary Dancsecs.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at Hardwood Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Sheldon Chant officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the Albert Bridge Fire Hall from 2-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Albert Bridge Fire Hall, or charity of choice.
