New Glasgow - Mary Winnifred White. It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Mary, our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt & friend.
Mary passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Glasgow, February 26, 1931, she was the eldest child of the late Henry and Mary Ellen (MacKenzie) Hayman.
She is survived by sons: John (Donna); Hugh (Linda); Glenn (Karen); daughters: Mary Ellen Ward (Harry Court); Cindy Greene; Chris (Miles) Kirkendall; Kathy (Peter) Legere; Colleen (Wayne) van'tSlot; grandchildren: Chris & Nick Fraser, Colin White, Jason White, Richard & Kaela White, Andrew, Chase & Kara Kirkendall, Justin & Stephanie Greene, Brandon & Brooklyn van'tSlot & Emma Legere; great grandchildren: Jordyn, Hunter & Cale White; sisters: Barb (Fraser) King; Margie (Howard) Atwater; brother Hugh; brothers-in-law: Donnie MacGillivray & Vincent Turple ; sister-in-law: Caroline Trew; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by husband John, son Fred, son-in-law Arthur Ward, sisters Tena, Myrna, Dianne and brothers, Fred (Sonny), Webb, John, Vic and Robert.
While raising 9 children she also enjoyed working at the New Glasgow Stadium, Smith's Taxi, & Service Master. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and trips to Bangor with family & friends. Her jokes, love & laughter will be sorely missed by her neighbours on St. Theresa St. and friends at the Hillcrest Seniors Residence where her door was always open & friends were welcome.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 Monday in the R. H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be Tuesday, at 2 pm in Trinity United Church with Rev. Dr. Jim Shaffner officiating. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery. Family flowers only.
