Violet May Aitken, 89, passed away Nov. 7, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel (Spracklin) Rogers.
In her younger years, she enjoyed and was well known for pair figure skating and was an accomplished seamstress.
Violet is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Anthony) McElhatton, Ireland; sons, Brian (Carolyn), Sydney River, Glenn (Helen) and Ross, both of Sydney; sisters, Olive Brown, Lower Sackville, Helen Roland, Birch Grove, Vivian Pate, Indiana, Margaret Miller, Calgary; brothers, Gordon, North Sydney, and Sherman, Coxheath. Violet is also survived by grandchildren, Scott, Jeffery, Alicia, Mark and Bridget.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norris and a brother, Clarence Jr.
Visitation will be held Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will take place Tuesday 11 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Lloyd Steves officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
