Frances Vivian (Bourgeois) Gillis, 70, of Sydney passed away peacefully on Nov. 8, 2009, in Harbourstone Enhanced Care where she resided.
Born in Keippens, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Annette Bourgeois.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and both the CWL and Gaelic Society. She was a graduate of St. Rita Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and nursed at Montreal General Hospital, Halifax Infirmary and Sydney City Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis, sons, John Hugh, Dennis (Isabelle); daughter, Sheilagh (Shane) Chapmen; grandchildren, Holly, Olivia, Sydney and Caroline; brothers, Severion, Ignatius, Walter, Bernie and Eugene, sister, Sherly.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather, Gerard Gallant and a brother, Teddy.
Visitation for Frances will be held today from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in St. Joseph’s Church, Sydney. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
