PICTOU – Jean and Diane sadly announce the passing of our mother, Helen, on November 7th at the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou N.S., at the age of 95.
She was the daughter of the late John D. and Margaret (Logan) MacMillan.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Jean Clarke (Brian) Pictou; their sons, Craig (Tracey), Pictou; Randy (Kimberley), Salem Ma; and Derek (Melanie), Pictou; also lovingly remembered by her two great-granddaughters, Cassie and Ellie Clarke; daughter, Diane Osmond (Phil), Cambridge, N.S.; their sons, Ryan (Sarah), Coldbrook, N.S.; Colin (Vanessa), Vancouver, B.C. She is also survived by sister, Dorothy English, and sister-in-law, Beryl MacMillan, many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by Dad (Murray) in 1991 and infant daughter, Doris; brother, Don; and sister, Marjorie.
Throughout her life Mom’s main interests were her family, most importantly her grandsons and their families. Their everyday lives were so important to her, she was so proud of them all!
Her love of gardening was obvious with her many flower gardens surrounding her former home on Prince St. She truly had the “green thumb”.
Also her interest in sports, notably tennis and baseball and finally keeping updated daily on the news and politics of the day.
Although she faced many health challenges her positive and caring attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was our shining light and we will miss you Mom!
Arrangements are entrusted to McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, where visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday from McLaren Funeral Home Chapel, Pictou, with Rev. Iona MacLean officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations in Mom’s memory may be made to the Maritime Oddfellows Home, P.O. Box 850, Pictou, N.S., B0K 1H0, or a charity of one’s choice.
Our many thanks for the loving care provided to her and our family by the IOOF staff and to her doctor, Gordon Young, for all of his medical care, advice and kindness to her, and our family for many years.
