It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Smith announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the age of 77 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: his wife, Angela (Merrigan) Smith, married 49 years; his children: Ann Smith (Gene) of Riverview NB, Meshack Smith (Dixie) of Calgary, AB, David Smith (Adelaide) of Corner Brook, Mary Dwyer (Craig) of Toronto, John Smith of Sundre, Alberta, Irene Sheppard (Dennis) of Corner Brook, Marjorie McCarthy (Nick) of Corner Brook, James Rimmer (Linda) of St. John’s; 14 grandchildren: Christa, Sarah, Stephen, Holly, Angela, Maggie, Martine, Mark, Kate-Lynne, Johnathan, Kaylene, Matthew, Deanne, Terri-Lynn; great-grandchild Stefanie; sisters: Sarah Mae Roberts (Ernie) of Corner Brook, Jean Brake of Corner Brook; brother Winston Smith (Pat) of Collingwood, ON, as well as a large circle of family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Meshack & Annie Smith; sisters: Dorothy Smith, Bernice Smith and Marjorie Hutchings; brothers: Jack and Hector Smith; special nephew Brian Smith. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Dean Michael Rice officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
